This is an incredibly simple fruit salad with a yoghurt dressing that not only tastes good, but will look beautiful on your lunch table. I have personally been doing them a lot, mostly for my daughter. They make a really quick and quite filling snack too.

Sometimes I make this salad with plain yoghurt, when I do that, I like to add a tablespoon or two of sugar, honey or date syrup to make the plain yoghurt a little more palatable for the baby. This time I used flavored yoghurt which is already sweetened so I had no need for sweeteners. In both cases though, it comes out creamy, slightly tangy and sweet at the same time.

The versatility of its preparation is the other thing I like about it, you can do this dessert with a wide range of fruits and vegetables, from bananas to cucumber, tangerine, pawpaws, strawberries and passion fruits make a really good garnish, if you can stand the seeds. Try to get a mix of different colors of fruit to enhance the visual appeal, especially for the kids. It’s the reason I used strawberry flavored yoghurt in this case.


• Yogurt

• Grapes, halved

• Apples, cubed

• Orange, peeled and cubed

• Mango, peeled and cubed


1. Whisk together yogurt and honey (if using) in the bottom of a large bowl.

2. Stir in fruit and toss until combined.

3. Serve chilled or refrigerate for up to 3 days.
